Critic reviews

"Havill delivers an evocative tale of hard lives on the edge of society. His portly detective is a genuine low-key pleasure." ( Publishers Weekly)

Great plot, writing. And characters are fascinating for reading but listening. Ithe worst pronunciation of Spanish that I’ve ever Please make some improvements here, otherwise I will stop purchasing these audiobooks.

Terrible reading. Spanish language slaughtered.

I enjoy all of the Steven F. Havill books because I live in Southern New Mexico almost my whole life and it is nice to have a book that is in this land scape. I enjoy the characters I have worked around law enforcement most of my adult life and understand the difficulty of a rule area and it is just nice to have a book that is not all about a big city and heavily populated areas.

Good clean listen

This whole series (those I've bought so far at least) is great. A true mystery, real characters and a really spot-on narrator.

Great series!

My wife and I listen to the story and we found it very very goodgoing to difficult to believe that the undersheriff had a heart attack the first book and this time he got shot and of course the one person that wasn't really in the story is dad and the two of them lived even though both of them were shot so the story is sort of a stretch I like the reader and I did enjoy

Just a great book
