Due to my loyalty to the author and series, i would not recommend this book to a 1st timer, you would get lost in this story and it would make no sense, However I do appreciate that change of direction and the in sigh to the other characters, leaving the opportunity for this to develop into its own direction. I didn't find this book boring at all, and actually thoroughly enjoyed the change, the only regret that I see in this series is the our beloved Merino doesn't seem to reflect his character, the captain in the police being a complete slop just doesn't do the character justice, I think he deserves a new leas on life and allowing this character to develop further too,

a pleasant detour

Nothing had happened after an hour and a half so I gave up. Dont bother with this. I think Ms Cornwell is just trading off her reputation from years ago.

Frivilous girlie pap

Patricia Cornwell is a bestseller writer but this book is very hard to read. The story doesn't flow, it does not keep you attention at all. The narrator is average but the book is very weak.

Awful. Choose another book
