A terrible deed from the past threatens to overtake the life of a young man only recently rescued from the claws of death…

In one fateful moment, in the split second it takes to move from normalcy to tragedy, nearly everything that Alex Lonsdale holds dear was ripped from him. But when a doctor is able to bring him back from the very brink of death, he is considered a medical miracle - those who love him rejoice.

But when they look closely into Alex’s eyes, there is something missing there. No one knows that they should be terrified of what has just taken place, for the evil of a heinous deed that took place nearly 100 years ago has been living and waiting for this very moment, when it can claim…the Brainchild.

Saul wrote some great books. However, most of his works just don’t hold up. This one is one that was creative enough to hold up. It has enough sci-fi/technology ideas to keep you interested until the end. The characters are defined enough so that you care about their plight. Saul has created a suspenseful and somewhat creepy tale here. I liked the narration, but it was uneven in places.

John Saul is a great writer. I’m glad audible is making some of his great suspense/horror books finally available. I only hope that he finds a younger audience. He deserves the attention.
