What made the experience of listening to Brimstone the most enjoyable?

I think the book just starts off with a bang and just doesn't stop. It was great... A fantastic and quite unique story line.

What did you like best about this story?

Hard to say...I love the Pendergast series and have read all their books. I missed the narrator from previous books - but it was still great. Fantastic story...well done, and kept you on the edge of your seat. .

Which scene was your favorite?

There was a scene where a man is trying to conjure the devil...he is clearly terrified and you don't know WHY he would do that...what his intent is...or even if he believes he can do this. I think you are almost struck with the terror of the moment....and then it just CHANGES scenes and you don't know what happened...not for awhile anyway... My heart was racing... this book was a fantastic read...as are all the Douglas Preston / Lincoln Child books.

Nothing else. GREAT book...the only book I had missed in the series. I hope they'll get Cabinet of Curiosities on Audible soon!

Here's my Bottom Line on this book: I thoroughly enjoy listening to series; story arcs, character development, and the mix of the new and the familiar are all great fun. So when I find a really excellent series I parcel them out in order to make the fun last, mixing in other books before listening to the next book of the series. This time my self discipline has completely left me (fled into all the fun that is Pendergast)! I can't resist ... I'm downloading book 6 as I write this review. I will start it as soon as I finish writing this.

Some subordinate points in support of my bottom line:

* The characters in this book are hugely quirky in the best ways. They are overdrawn to the point of being caricatures while still being great fun.

* The suspense is palpable in certain parts, particularly at the end. (Major hint as to why I'll start the next book immediately.)

* The story line is both interesting as well as loaded with classical history. One caution, it does slow in the middle. Don't worry about that, just keep going.

* A couple of the repeating characters develop and evolve which increases the listeners sense of involvement with them.

* As always, Scott Brick is without peer!

Wonderfully Gothic and Delightfully Camp!

I have so many other books downloaded. But every time I finish a book in this series I want to move on to the next! The characters just keep getting more interesting, and the stories more intense. I'll be disappointed when I get caught up to the latest book!

Never disappointed!

What a wild weaving tale of auteur sentiments, elegant settings, and ambiguous motives, capped by the exquisite exposition of a new nemesis! Indeed, Brimstone is at once, honorable send up to the Gods of early ratiocination, and robust trail blazer within the genre. Agent Pendergast, once again, captivates with his charm, wit, and guile, remaining one step ahead of his enemies! But will his dedication to the dear friends he's made along the way be his undoing? Finding out will certainly be worth your time and money:) ENJOY!!!

Favorite one so far!!!
