Is there evidence to believe the Gospels?

The Gospels - Matthew, Mark, Luke, John - are four accounts of Jesus' life and teachings while on earth. But should we accept them as historically accurate? What evidence is there that the recorded events actually happened?

Presenting a case for the historical reliability of the Gospels, New Testament scholar Peter Williams examines evidence from non-Christian sources, assesses how accurately the four biblical accounts reflect the cultural context of their day, compares different accounts of the same events, and looks at how these texts were handed down throughout the centuries. Everyone from the skeptic to the scholar will find powerful arguments in favor of trusting the Gospels as trustworthy accounts of Jesus' earthly life.

I was impressed by the level of scholarship in this book. The author made his assumptions clear, didn't overstate his case, and didn't put other people down. This is a short book, but very dense. It's given me a lot to think about!

A down to earth, scholarly look into the gospels

I will listen to the rest but the error of the author regarding which James was killed in Acts makes me wonder about his scholarship. Disappointing.

I’m 29 years old and I listened to like 3 Bart D. Ehrman Books and 1 lecture thinking he was the man, but this book is waaaaaaay way way more informative than the competitor. This is such an easy to understand book and by far the most compelling evidence I’ve come across. This is perfect for anyone who wants to strengthen their faith and definitely for people on the fence about Christianity that are being convinced otherwise in this sinful word we live in. Also great to learn more in general about how the New Testament was created! I cant wait to read more from this amazing author. I’m going to recommend this book to everyone I know. Such a blessing, Peter J. Williams and his book are.

As the title suggests, I found this book to be well reasoned and measured in its defense of the New Testament. Yet even with the reserve nature of the defenses, this book makes a great case for the reliability and believability of the New Testament gospels.

Well reasoned and measured

Very thought provoking. If you are a sceptic of the Gospel accounts, this is a worthy read!
