at first, I thought this book was as cheesy as any other romance novel I have read or listened to. I was ready to make my decision, but it got me hooked almost immediately after the first couple chapters. I fell in love with the characters. I had no idea how much this book would emotionally get to me. i believe my exact reactions were (what!) (nooooo way! he wouldn't dare). (she said what?!?)
my coworkers were laughing at me when the tears came. both books were amazing. perfection. and a must listen to again. the absolute best books so far. and I have listen to over 60 and read over 100. this one's makes number one on the list. the fire. the passion. the action. the actors performed flawlessly. the twist got my chest in ties. Petra and was definitely my favorite. who would have thought.
yes!! give this book a chance. it's worth every minute.

the shock

As a conclusion to the duet it turned out alright. There were definitely some cringey moments, as other reviewers mentioned, but overall it was good. I really want to classify this as a Bratva romcom though. It’s so comical for the most part it’s hard to take seriously. There are so many funny parts! Definitely some serious themes, but it’s not a dark romance imo.

Very good as a set

*Spoiler alert *

Yuri was a disgusting traitor and didn’t deserve a happy ending. Matvey was annoying for the better part of the first book with his always talking about how only blood matters. That still didn’t excuse how Yuri turned on him and the way he treated April in the end. I was hoping Petra put a bullet in him or that he was killed off somehow. That would’ve made it a happy ending for me.

I’m not happy with the ending

This was a good story. I would call it Mafia Light. There were a lot of characters and it took me quite awhile to remember who was who, except for the 2 main characters. There wasn’t a lot of hot, descriptive sex, so I would rate that part low. The storyline and interaction between the characters was the majority of the book. So if you like adventure and complicated relationships you will like this one. Some of the “evil” sub characters never got their comeuppance, which was frustrating. The narration was great! However, the male narrator would yell/growl throughout the story and it was hard on my ears. Happy Listening!

A lot left unsaid

The 1 st 2 chapters really had me interested, but then it fell flat... so flat! Mid way though the 2nd book and nothing has happened. The male voice doing the female part is so cringey. I liked the female voice performance. The fmc had the spine of a jelly fish. She so unlikable. Going through life like a door mat. He lies to her, marries an other and she does nothing. Just waited for him to come back. There are many sex scenes, but they are quick, have no depth, build up or description which made them very borning. Sped up to 3.5 just to finish. Would not reread or recommend.

boring & repetitive 😴- reviewing both books
