A 19th-century mystic marriage counselor and her guardian angel battle the Inquisitor of Smut in this biographical historical novel based on a true story.

She will not be silenced! Brilliant, corseted, and haunted by spirits from the Borderlands, a young girl turns her back on the constrictions of Victorian society and strikes out on her own, becoming a mystic marriage counselor. Sharing what she views as essential sexual knowledge puts her in the crosshairs of Anthony Comstock, the nation’s Anti-Obscenity Postal Inspector. She vows to bring him down. He promises to silence her forever. With prison looming, Ida and her angel lover must prepare for a battle they may not be able to win.

This is a very interesting story that gives credit to those who came before us fighting for our right to free speech.

The narrator was good but her voicing of mother takes some getting used to (I almost turned it off in the first chapter)

There are some mixing issues where one character sounds like they whispering and the other screaming thank fully this is not though out the narrative

Historic fiction or is it?

I enjoyed the narration from Linda Kutzer

Тhis book is bаsed on the true stоry of Ida Сraddock, who fought fоr wоmen's rights tо be educated about sexuаlity and tо havе cоntrоl оver thеir own bodiеs. In the Victorian era

I have read this book in paperback, but the audiobook adds a whole new dimension to the characters and story -- i love it!

The narrator's musical voice added to the main character makes this story come alive for me in a whole different way than I had read her on paper.

It is so delicious to get real history, told so well and in such a wonderful voice. I'll definitely look for more from this author and this narrator!

Wonderful storytelling and voice!
