Everything Emma Thompson owns fits in a suitcase. She moves from one roach infested motel to another. Mercenary Will Davenport lives in the moment. Hauling Emma to South Dakota should have been an easy job, but his employer neglected to tell him about Emma's freaky son and the gunmen hot on her trail. Instinct tells him this job is trouble, but nothing can prepare him for Jake's proclamation that Will is The Chosen One, who must protect Emma from the men hunting her power. A power she doesn't know she has.

Will protects Emma and Jake on a cross-country chase from the men pursuing them, while struggling with memories from his past, his apprehension of Jake, and his growing attraction to Emma. Will's overwhelming urge to protect Emma surprises him, especially since it has nothing to do with his paycheck and possibly everything to do with the tattoo Jake branded on his arm. Rich and powerful men are desperate to capture Emma, and Will must discover why before it's too late.

Bad narration

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

No, the reader spoke so slowly & his pronunciations were kind of annoying.

Would you be willing to try another book from Denise Grover Swank? Why or why not?

Yes. The story wasn't bad, I think it could actually be pretty good if I read it myself instead of listening to it.

Would you be willing to try another one of John Mierau’s performances?

No, in fact, I had downloaded the 2nd book before really getting into this one & I plan to return it.

Could you see Chosen being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Possibly. Hadn't really thought of it...

Fast-paced!

Fun and fast-paced. DG Swank knows how to write characters that connect and pull you in.

great job

A very good book, kept my intrastate right from the beginning. the interaction with the characters, made it funny as well. A great job by the narrator , making the qwearky parts, very laughably. great job.

Liked both main characters

Gripping non stop action. Didn’t realize that it would be continued until I noticed that it was “Book 1”. Oh well, I just purchased book 2 :)

Good vs Evil

The book was the basic good vs evil & Ok to listen to however, the narrator was stilted in his presentation. Each sentence spoken seemed to be broken into two stilted sentences or at least in places. There wasn't much inflection put into the books where if it had been done right it would have made the book a great listen. The only time there was any inflection was the arguements. Many times a narrator can make a mediocre book a great book. This time it didn't happen.

Overall, it was you get what you pay for & sadly, this one was on sale for a special price. Due to narrator, I WON'T be getting book 2 in the series.
