Jesus was a real person, right? You might be surprised at what data science has to say. Christ Before Jesus presents a first-of-its-kind analysis using proven, peer-reviewed mathematics and software which reveals a second-century origin for the books of the New Testament.

This book reveals that:

  • The first reference to Jesus might not come until almost 100 years after his supposed death around the year 30
  • The Gospels discuss events that took place in the 130s
  • Some of Paul’s letters mention people and books from the 140s and later
  • There is evidence the first Christians did not believe in a historical Jesus
  • Some early Christians believed Christianity started decades before when Jesus supposedly lived
  • And more!

No conspiracies, no ancient riddles, no secret knowledge, just logic and investigation. Follow researchers Matthew Britt and Jaaron Wingo as they examine the evidence for a historical Jesus, Paul, and other New Testament figures, using computerized stylometric analysis to uncover the second-century origins of the Christian religion. Along the way, you’ll even learn how to run these tests yourself and crack the cold case that is Jesus’ existence using cutting-edge methods.

At the intersection of science, history, and religion is the truth.

I appreciate the very deep research to uncover important and revealing details of the history of how and when the books of the new testament came together to create the Christian religion.

Britt and Wingo construct an airtight, meticulously researched argument that dismantles the traditional narrative of Jesus as a historical figure. Their use of stylometry and historical analysis leaves no room for doubt about the second-century origins of the Jesus story, marking a resounding achievement that could forever reshape how the world understands Jesus.

A Groundbreaking Case for the Mythicism of Jesus

I've been reading books on New Testament scholarship for 30 years, but this one by two non-scholars is one of the most impressive and and concise. The presentation is clear and easy to understand. The stylometric analysis is the star of the show and the software is open share so anybody can check their results. The results of their stylometrics do consistently support and overlap other aspects of scholarship. For example it has already been long suspected that Canonical Luke is an expansion of Marcion's Gospel rater than Marcion being a reduction of Canonical; Luke. Fascinating that the stylometric results not only support that but even offer a strong suspect for who the redactor was. The performances by the authors themselves are clean and easy to listen to, however I docked them a point because a lot of their pronunciations are off but they are not presenting themselves as scholars. Their data is solid and I did not catch them in any factual mistakes. I liked the audible so much I bought the Kindle too.

Loved this book so much I'm going to buy the paperback. I want to listen once more and then the physical book to begin the comparison within the bible.

Great and Informative

I think the authors did a great job addressing each “claim” that Jesus existed. I need to get the actual hard cover now so I can see the charts / data but great book

Wow. Just wow
