In this twisting mystery in a New York Times bestselling series, pranks escalate into a deadly scheme that Private Investigator Sharon McCone must unravel—before they claim her life.

San Francisco is home to more than 200 privately owned streets. Most are alleyways, but a select few are lined with mansions and elaborate gardens. When several luxury estate homes are targeted in a series of so-called pranks, Sharon is hired by a coalition of concerned owners to investigate. But as things escalate—an attempt on Sharon’s life, an explosion at a meth lab, and a shocking murder—Sharon realizes far more is at play than a few misdemeanors gone wrong. The case takes a sudden turn when one of McCone & Ripinsky’s most trusted employees is implicated, and Sharon will have to dig deep to save her agency—and her life.

Love this series. I fear this is the last one. I am hoping Marcia Muller has a few left in her. Wish I could have been an operative in her firm of investigators. Hard to put down once you start them.

The connection of the characters.

Did not care for the plot. Seemed disjointed and contrived. The narrator took a lot out of the story and ruined it for me. No real feeling in the reading.

Too short

I have read all the Sharon McCone books. I wish Marsha Muller would write more. I just recently started listening to them. The narrator sounds like a kindergarten teacher (or The Pioneer Woman from Food Network?) trying to make different voices. Sharon deserves much better.

Love Marcia Muller and Sharon McCone

The story was engaging but not very suspenseful or interesting. I think I stayed with it because the book (written) got a good review from the Times, but the oral presentation is terrible.

Terrible reader
