Oil is vanishing from the Cisco field, and revealing it becomes a death sentence.

Newly trained and ready to rock her first assignment, Gwynn Reznick goes undercover posing as an accountant for the Prudell Energy Company. After fending off the unwanted advances of a company executive, she stumbles on a murder scene staged to look as an accident. Then she learns another employee died in a suspicious oil well accident and a large quantity of oil is missing from the Cisco field.

A wild mix of action, adventure, and mystery, all in one fast-paced thrill ride!

Her boss (and boyfriend) Ruben calls and warns Gwynn not to go poking her nose where it doesn’t belong and to wait for his directions. She promptly ignores his orders and sets out to solve the case, which quickly spirals out of her control as she ends up on the perpetrators’ hit list. Will Gwynn be able to maintain her cover, or will she risk everything to crack the case?

This one will have you on the edge of your seat until the very end!

Anyone who enjoys action, adventure, murder mysteries, or just a plain good story will love Cisco Bandits.

I really enjoyed this edge of your seat murder mystery set in the oil patch. Gwynn Reznick, Goss's heroine is a tough as nails investigator who can take a punch as well as throw one, an she has the bruises to prove it. She's undercover, posing as an accountant when she stumbles on an accidental death that looks a lot more like murder to her. In the process of investigating, she finds there's a whole lot rotten in this company, but sorting it out could cost her life.
Well written, well read, well worth your time.

I'm not at all interested in the oil industry. But this story was amazing! Full of action. Full of sub plots. Cleverly written. Lots of characters. A real murder-mystery. I had no idea who the bad guys were. Wonderful, clever, sharp, beautiful, brave Gwynn. Working to solve her first case. Her absentee boss/boyfriend ruled the job from the phone and monitors.

I listened to an Audible version of this book gifted to me from Story Origin. The narrator had her work cut out for her. There were so many characters. She had several different voices, but not enough for everyone. Still she brought alot to the feel of this story. Very easy to listen to and understand.
Because of the numerous characters, and some of them had alias'; I wondered if I wouldn't have been just as happy to be reading and have visual names.

Mystery solved.

Gwynn is a fairly new PI. Her employer has trained her well and she has a newly acquired skill set. She also has partners in the field who work for her boss too. She has a strange relationship with her boss. He's also her boyfriend/lover. But sometimes in their relationship he's the boss and sometimes he's her boyfriend.

Gwynn is quick thinking and talented. Gwynn has been positioned in the office at an oil drilling company. Something is off about production and that's why Gwynn has been placed there. Also, an employee has apparently taken off with no notice, other employees are puzzled, but the reader knows he's dead.

It turns out there is a whole lot going on, as Gwynn discovers. It's dangerous, but she's determined to do her job and uncover the dirty-doers.

I like Gwynn, admire her bravery and skill sets. I am looking forward to reading more of her exploits.

I listened to the audio version of this book. The narrator is ok, but while she does a decent job narrating, she mispronounces some common words and that bothered me.

Female PI, still learning, but smart and skilled

Cisco Bandits is Book 2 in the Gwynn Reznick series, however it is a stand alone if you did not read The Cost of Crude, even though I highly recommend you read it. The Cost of Crude introduces readers to Gwynn, who is extremely resourceful and fearless, as well as her boss Reuben, who is efficient at running undercover operations. A love affair ensued, and the two are now engaged and enduring a long distance relationship - as well as employee/boss roles. In Book 2, lead character, Gwynn goes on her first assignment after extensive training. Shortly after she arrives to investigate one death, two more occur, and the rookie detective witnesses both without the perps knowing. Gwynn's skills and technique are solid, however she occasionally becomes defiant and breaks rules in an effort to learn more about what's going on inside Prudell Oil. I could relate to her desire to learn as much as possible about who is involved and what dirty deeds are up their sleeves, but I'm not as strong as Gwynn and would likely crumble like a blubbering crybaby if I were tied up and slapped around. Inge-Lise is an excellent writer with a nice moving flow whose twists and turns keep readers guessing who the bad guys might be. I guessed wrong, and am happy that I couldn't figure out the culprit(s). When we learn the villain(s) up front, we lose respect for an author's storytelling ability. Will Gwynn's stubborn determination cause her to foolishly blow her first case and possibly lose respect of her fiancé and her job? Maybe even both? Cisco Bandits has a strong cast of characters, but I'm eager to read Book 3 to see what happens with Gwynn Reznick and Ruben Dordi, and whether their love can survive the stress of treacherous working conditions. I highly recommend this intriguing read with intricate plot twists for those who enjoy this genre.
