Now in a single box set - the first three action-packed and humorous Reed Ferguson mysteries, plus a Reed Ferguson short story.

Reed Ferguson loves film noir and classic detective fiction, and he wants more than anything to emulate his hero, Humphrey Bogart. So Reed tries his hand at the detecting business and what follows is a humorous journey into suspense territory.

This Doesn't Happen in the Movies (Book 1)

A wannabe private eye with a love of film noir and detective fiction. A rich, attractive femme fatale. A missing husband. A rollicking ride to a dark and daring ending.

Reed Ferguson's first case is a daring adventure, complete with a dose of film noir, and a lot of humor. With a great supporting cast of the Goofball Brothers, Reed's not too bright neighbors, and Cal, Reed's computer geek friend, This Doesn't Happen in the Movies is detective noir at its best. Follow Reed as he solves crime akin to his cinematic hero, Humphrey Bogart.

Reel Estate Rip-Off (Book 2)

Lights! Camera! Reed!

A mysterious death. A brother searching for the truth. A devious ex-wife. Real estate shenanigans. More danger for Reed than a film noir plot.

Reed Ferguson's second adventure is again filled with film noir and humor. Along with the Goofball Brothers, Reed's not too bright neighbors, and Cal, Reed's computer geek friend, Reed tackles a dangerous case, sharpening his skills as he unearths a string of clues that lead to a killer - but will this case cost Reed his life? With an ode to old Hollywood and movie memorabilia, Reel Estate Rip-Off is humorous detective noir at its best.

The Maltese Felon (Book 3)

When an attractive female client begs Reed Ferguson to find her prize-winning Maltese show dog stolen from her backyard, Reed suspects he may be channeling Ace Ventura: Pet Detective rather than his hero, Humphrey Bogart. It sounds like a simple case, but things take a dangerous turn and Reed discovers that man's best friend can attract some decidedly unfriendly characters!

"Elvis and the Sports Card Cheat" (Bonus Short Story)

Reed Ferguson returns in an outrageously fun short story!

Perry Rawlings, an Elvis impersonator, has his prize Mickey Mantle baseball card stolen. Who is the culprit? This tale will keep you guessing!

If you're a fan of fun, suspenseful mysteries, don't miss this collection that's a fast-paced, humorous listen, without a lot of swearing or sex.

Seemed just getting into the story and it was over!. I felt left down here.

over too soon

I enjoyed the overall story idea for each book in this box set. However, the execution of the writing was pedestrian, at best. I was also somewhat disappointed with the narration. The narrator failed to give any life to the characters. He was rather monotone with his delivery for all 3.5 books. I won’t be going any further with the series.

Likable characters, average story

A good selection of noir type film, add the Bogart touch that set his films apart. These are shorter stories, with quirky characters, quirky request for Reed to solve. Have read many of the authors books and they are different in there plots and all are enjoyable.
Enjoyed the narration by Peppers thought he added to the stories

Good Noir Stories & Narration

I enjoyed this Private Investigator series with P.I. Reed Ferguson. I like the style of the writing and the style of the stories. The performance is very good and perfect for this style of stories. At times the stories drag a bit and are fanciful, and I do get tired of Reed getting beaten up all the time. But I really enjoy the array of characters and the writing. I also enjoyed the old movie references.

Very good performance of P.I. tales

Would you consider the audio edition of The Reed Ferguson Mystery Series, Box Set to be better than the print version?

That print version of the books are entertaining and fun to read but the audio version brought them to life in ways I didn't get while reading alone. This is a great series for whisper sync.

What about Johnny Peppers’s performance did you like?

The narrator's performance was perfect for the series protagonist and did a wonderful job of creating a movie for the mind.

Any additional comments?

Anxious to hear more from this combination of author and narrator.
