Clay’s Quilt was a Book Sense '76 Pick and was nominated for the Southeastern Booksellers Book of the Year and the Appalachian Writers Association Book Award. Clay Sizemore loves his home in Free Creek, but he longs for more. Since the death of his mother when he was four, he has felt the absence of family. His father left, and he has no siblings. But finally, through the love of others, he is able to create a place of his own.

Truly captures the spirit of eastern Kentucky. I feel as though I already knew everyone in this book the moment they were so beautifully introduced and stitched together like a quilt.

Spectacular

Incredibly accurate depiction of Appalachian life and holler life. I thought we were the only ones who made Peanut Butter Candy when it snowed. Love. Love. Love.

It was like reading my own story.

2nd time through Clay's Quilt this year. Silas House writes beautifully & narrated by one of the best.

Fantastic author, perfectly narrated

This was a little bit of a let down after the rich telling of the first two in this “trilogy”. The narration is hard to listen to and may have played a part in my disappointment. I had hoped it to be more woven together in the end.

A little disappointed after reading the first two

I first read this book many years ago and as I am a ky girl myself it really resonated with me. I love this book and the way it’s read a loud here on audible. The people in the story could be people I know or am related to and they way the narrator speaks brought me back to my grandmothers kitchen when I was a child. Thank you Silas house for capturing the very essence of what it means to be mountain people!

Love this book
