While the Christian community loves stories of salvation, it struggles with stories of sanctification—the often-messy journey of becoming like Jesus. As a result, many Christians who stumble are mired in shame, especially when it comes to one of society's biggest post-Covid obsessions: alcohol. But there is hope for those willing to rethink their drinking.

In Confessions of a Christian Alcoholic, Jonathon M. Seidl vividly tells his own story of disordered drinking. Not only does he address the roots of addiction, trauma, and the often-overlooked reality that Christians aren't immune to sin struggles, he also reframes the term alcoholic and shares the practical yet spiritual four-step process he used to break free—a process listeners will find helpful for working through many of life's struggles.

Written in an engaging, conversational style, Confessions shows that there's hope for Christians who become alcoholics, not just for alcoholics who become Christians.

Such a good listen. Jon is a very good writer and gets raw and real or “ radically vulnerable” with his testimony and is super insightful. He does a good job quoting others and adding scriptures to get his point across.

Loved it

This is the information I have been needing to hear for true change!! Not the empty worldly advice on self effort. I needed spiritual information for true freedom and change!!
I thoroughly enjoyed the readers voice and narrative! His raw honesty that struck home. This is the best book on quitting alcohol I have listened to on Audible! And I have listened to most out there for change!
The key is it is a spiritual battle! Knowing what the Bible says, letting the Holy Spirit's wise counsel speak through this book to finally grab your heart and mind for true desired change!

Best Christian book on alcoholism!!

This is a much needed story of how difficult it is for Christians who are struggling with sin in their lives. That would be most of us if not all of us. In so many families and churches, it is simply not safe to be this honest about the sin in our lives. However, not only is the sharing of our personal struggles life changing for us as an individual, but ultimately it helps others see and address sin in their lives and thus brings glory to God. This story will bring more nonbelievers to God. It is the hypocrisy of Christians that people without God most despise. Jon sheds the hypocrisy and shows us how to be more Christlike.

Transparency and vulnerability = authenticity

Loved the concept of messy sanctification and radical vulnerability. I too have had a disordered relationship with alcohol for most of my life and through God’s help and walking through a Christian Step program I have had a renewed relationship with Christ and been AF for 16 months. I love the way John describes the fours steps and believe they will help those believers struggling with alcohol addiction and worship of the bottle that has displaced Jesus. Well done and thanks for the honesty.
