From WSJ best-selling romance author Winter Renshaw comes an angsty small-town romance with a twist you won't see coming....

When some pretty little thing shows up at my doorstep with a suitcase, claiming she rented my house for the summer, I waste no time informing her that my house isn't for rent. Some Internet jack*ss scammed her out of all her money, but that's not my problem.

Only when I find her sleeping in her car a couple days later, I can't turn my back. I make her an offer: room and board in exchange for working on my ranch. She agrees - not like she has a choice - and I open my doors to a girl who sings too loud, sticks her nose where it doesn't belong, and distracts me with her tight jeans and those full, f**kable lips.

I keep her at arm's length, and for good reason. I don't deserve happiness. And I don't deserve her. But when those hot summer days melt into long country nights, I find it hard to keep my hands off of her, even when I know they don't belong there. My mouth on hers, her body on mine, that glimmer in her big brown eyes when she looks at me like I've hung the moon....

For the first time in years, my frozen heart beats again. And when I look at her, I'm reminded that I'm still alive, that maybe all isn't lost. And when I kiss her, I'm not thinking about the past anymore; I'm picturing the two of us. A future. But people around here like to talk, and rumors are alive and well, and some folks are out to convince her I'm a monster with a sordid past. And maybe I am....

Enjoyed this fast paced story between Leighton and River. Fell in love with River from the beginning. Such heartache this man had been through. Leighton was his saving grace.

You will enjoy this audiobook. The characters were wronged by people close to them and we got the chance to witness vindication. Who doesn't love that? The brother was a piece of crap and so was her ex-fiance. I could not believe the first chapter with his horrible self. I love epilogues and this book did not disappoint. Take a chance you will enjoy it

The overall story is very good. There are some areas that could be flushed out, but it still creates a good flow.

The major thing that I found missing was a trigger warning in the description for sexual assault. While other areas of the book could have been a bit more in depth, the author spared no expense in this scene while putting a vile taste in your mouth. It is well written and highly relatable, which is why the publishers summary needs a trigger warning.

Trigger Warning, but very good.

This audio takes you on a slow and easy journey, just like a country night. Life falls apart for Leighton and she goes back to her roots to try and pull it together. Just like you would expect, not only does she end up falling apart just a little bit more... she also gets put back together in the most perfect way.

I did love this book, although it does have a predictable storyline, it still has that ease and flow that makes me warm and giddy. The characters chemistry makes smile and feel fuzzy. I do wish there was a little bit more sexy times, it was a little more PG-13 in my book but that is more just my taste. I like a little more sass.

Greyson and Alastair were awesome narrators. Full of emotion and intensity. River was a country boy with hesitation and that was portrayed to perfection. I loved that. Great narration all around.
