I was a girl of the 80s and this is NOT ACCURATE OR ACCEPTABLE

book starts out all hopeful with " Hands across America " which most people did not take part in . the story progresses with sibling issues that are typical , no issues. Then the writer hits on The Challenger incident. NONE of our teachers ever spoke to us kids about what happened . not on the day while it was happening and not after. No one cared about how traumatized we were and at my school the TV was left on while all the students sat in class and teachers spoke in the hallway. There were no grief counselors whatsoever in 1986 coming into the school to help us kids with what we witnessed. We didn't get out early !! Every kid i knew in all of San Jose, CA had to stay at school that day until the 3pm bell rang . This was 1986 not 2025. There were no safe spaces for us and we were just expected to stuff our feelings down and suck it up . That was the reality. This Courtney book is GARBAGE !!
