In Ireland, another young woman discovers she is in the same impossible condition.
And in cities all around the world, medical authorities are overwhelmed by epidemics, droughts, famines, floods, and worse. It all feels like a sign that something awful is coming.
Anne Fitzgerald, a former nun turned private investigator, is hired by the Archdiocese of Boston to investigate the immaculate conceptions. Even as she comes to care about and trust the young women, she realizes that both are in great danger. Terrifying forces of light and darkness are gathering. Stepping into uncharted territory where the unknown is just the beginning, Anne must discover the truth--to save the young women, to save herself, and to protect the future of all mankind.

What. In. The. World. This was a whack-a-doo, poorly written, poorly developed, nothing story based on a completely weird and inaccurate interpretation of the Roman Catholic Church and basic theology. The characters were stupid, and their arcs were rushed, segmented and incomplete. It was like someone was trying to write a movie script based on the interesting parts of a worldwide faith without knowing anything about that faith except what they could glean on Wikipedia. Then, tried to squeeze in a fantasy element that helped their premise along and just ended up with a weird pile of words.
Honestly, I only finished it because I paid for it. But I want my money back,
Also, while I love the female narrator (she’s one of my favorites), the male narrator was AWFUL. PAINFUL. He took whatever good there was in the book (which was almost nothing) and destroyed it.
The best thing I can say is that it’s over.
