Daniel is desperate for a fresh start. So when a mysterious figure slides a note under his door offering the position of groundskeeper at an ancient estate, he leaps at the chance, even though it seems too good to be true. The abandoned mansion is straight out of those old gothic mysteries: the front door hangs open, and leaves and cobwebs coat the marble foyer. But when a candle flickers to life in the abandoned tower window, Daniel realizes he isn't alone after all. Something awful happened here long ago, and it's a paranormal mystery Daniel is afraid to solve. Because Craven Manor is hiding a terrible secret...One that threatens to bury him with it.

I couldn’t stop

Couldn’t stop listening. I was soooo curious to know what was going to happen. I find most of the characters in Darcy Coates books are a bit too clueless. But I guess I tend to assume if I know (for example why one would ask to put salt on a door) the characters should know too and I get it that’s not the truth and that often gets me yelling at the characters. Lol which is actually something I truly enjoy in all Darcy Coates stories a they get me so involved I actually have small chats with the characters throughout the books. lol
This one was not an exception.
Narration was great too.

So spooky, so good!

I love a good horror story that doesn’t rely on gore and sex for entertainment. My only complaint (which isn’t really a complaint) is that there wasn’t more! I loved the story and characters.

Story was great! it flowed nicely and it didn't leave me with any unanswered questions or feeling of incompletion. Very good haunted house story with a twist!
