I had listened to the audiobook, "After the Bitter Comes the Sweet", from the wife, the author, about their experiences in China from the time the Japanese occupied it. This was CH's experience and together, they gave an excellent first-person account of China and the Communist experience.

An Interesting Way To Look At Revolution.

I have listened to Sidney Rittenberg interacting with CCP since but never imaged he had been so strongly involved. Through him, I can take a peek at the dark period of Chinese history from another prospect. Also, I am amazed by the fact that he could go through a roller coaster life in China. That is unimaginable.

Open and honest, prisoners taken

What an enlightening audiobook! The author’s balanced use of individual stories and hard statistics make this book a must-have. It took me a bit to get into it, but once I started I could not stand.
I highly recommend this audiobook to anyone seriously interested in China.

A very informative and well-created audiobook on a piece of history is not really discussed deeply in many historical chronicles. This piece is widespread with reliable research behind it.

A sobering content....

Not knowing enough about China and the history of Mao Zedong except the very basics, I pulled this audiobook up to learn more. The first half concentrated on Mao’s early life and struggles the most exciting. It’s slightly astonishing how an intellectually inquisitive farm boy eventually ended up as the leader of all China, really well done.

A concise sketch of Mao's life
