Roll up your pant legs and bare your feet, there are barrels of grapes to crush in this hilarious fourth installment of the Malibu mystery series.

Maloney Investigation's new client? An eccentric vineyard owner convinced his even more eccentric neighbor is siphoning off his precious water. But of course it's not as simple as that. Or as dignified.

Sofia and Aidan soon find out these Merlot messiahs are turning water into wacky, plowing more than fields, and sowing more than grapes. But there's no putting the cork back in when the opposing vintner turns up naked and face down in a trough of sour grapes. Can Sofia and Aidan clear their client and unmask the killer? Or will they, too, perish in the Pinot Noir?

Love this series. This was another great installment. I work with horses and honestly, it is so rare that the author gets all the horse-related facts and 'features' correct. I'm happy to say the authors did! They either know horses or really did their homework.
I was a little confused by the character Jackson but am thinking it might be more clear in the next book, which I hope is very soon! The humor is very much to my liking and the mystery is good as well, although a bit unbelievable. I don't get too hung up on that and cling to 'suspension of disbelief.'
The narration is superb as usual.
I was gifted this (lucky me!!) audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Yay! She's back!

Any additional comments?

D is for Drunk is another amusing laugh out loud story by Sean Black and Rebecca Cantrell centering around Sofia Salgado and Aiden Maloney. She is a former child TV star who is recognized almost everywhere she goes, which sometimes hinders her new job as a Private Investigator at Maloney Investigations. Aiden is her PI partner and son of the owner of the PI business.

In this particular episode, Maloney Investigations is hired to investigate the alleged misuse of water by a neighbor. I realize it sounds ridiculous, but having lived in LA for 12 years, I can attest to the craziness and high cost surrounding water out there. Soon after they are hired, our stars are thrown together at a "key swap" party, where you are expected to swap partners for the evening, and one of the neighbors ends up dead. Like in the last book, the banter between Sofia and Aiden is what makes these books so enjoyable to listen to - it reminds me of the early Moonlighting days.

Madeline Mrozek was excellent in narrating the Audible version of this book. She brought the characters to life, using a variety of voices and giving each character their own distinct voice. Her smooth overtones and subtle character nuances made for a very enjoyable experience. I received a copy of this audiobook from the narrator via Audiobook Blast at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review.

This installment was the best in the series. The mystery is more captivating. Sofia skills have developed to a new level. There is still the playful banter between her and Aidan. For once she is not caught in a uncompromising situation. Her family are only in for only a few minutes. If you have enjoyed the series, you must read this one.

I’m so glad to see another mystery headed by our favorite child star all grown up! Sophia Salgado is transitioning from an insecure young lady to a confident detective, and that’s evidenced by believable writing and great performances! Listening is such a pleasure!

So glad!
