Jade returns home to Chapel Springs after years of protecting her fragile heart. Then along comes Daniel, making her long to dance again.

Growing up in the Midwestern river town of Chapel Springs, Indiana, Jade McKinley felt like a weed in a rose garden. When she left, she thought she'd never look back. Now, pregnant, alone, and broke, she has no other choice but to return.

The mayor of Chapel Springs, Daniel Dawson, has been an honorary member of the McKinley family for years. While his own home life was almost nonexistent, Daniel fit right in with the boisterous McKinley family. He's loved Jade for years, but she always thought of him as a big brother. Now that she's back, his feelings are stronger than ever.

As Jade attempts to settle in, nothing feels right. God seems far away, she's hiding secrets from her family, and she's strangely attracted to the man who's always called her "squirt". Returning home may prove more difficult - and more wonderful - than she ever imagined.

This story was very enjoyable, both h/h were very likable, the romance was very sweet. The date rape wasn’t overly descriptive, and the author tries to write things in a believable/ realistic way without losing the lightness of the story. I loved the pregnancy, Lamaze class, baby details. I really loved this story in many ways, except that after a certain point there was too much play by play detailed descriptions of passionate kissing which I prefer not to listen to. That is the only reason I will be returning this book. This author writes generally sweet fun romances, but in some of them she relies overly much on descriptions of physical passion to have more sexual tension than romantic tension to show how much they care for each other. I think there are better ways to show it. This is a nominally Christian story, so it is clean, nothing beyond French kissing. It is the kind of “Christian “ story with nice, moral people who occasionally call out to God in emergencies and have parents who are closer to God to give a little speech about God/Bible verse occasionally. As a Christian I personally find it disappointing, but the story mostly was very sweet and fun. Reader did a great job as well.

Sweet, once you get past date rape
