Fun one!

Adorable cozy mystery series with the added bonus of furry friends! This series is a bunch of short and sweet novellas about Evelyn Foster and her two search dogs. Great series! I cant wait to read more about Evelyn Foster!

Book 10: Dark Horse
Eve and Aidan are ice skating on their special date. As they are enjoying themselves, they look at the ice and happen to see a dead body underneath! This leads them back to their friend’s stable where a horse is also missing. Can they figure this one out?

Another cozy mystery banger!

Poor Eve and Aiden can't catch a break. Just as their relationship is starting to heat up, another murder snuffs out the heat when Eve comes face to face with a pair of icy blue eyes under the ice. Eve's sleuthing skills will need to come in handy to solve this one.

Another enjoyable cozy mystery. Short and sweet and leaving you guessing at every turn. I look forward to reading these as great little palate cleansers between darker, heavier books. Julie McKay voices the town of Granite to perfection!

Another great story!

I couldn’t wait to go back to Granite with Dark Horse, book ten of the Search and Rescue Cozy Mysteries, by Patti Benning. This series keeps building a world with close friendships, and with a possibility of love on the horizon I need answers.

Admittedly I did do a little happy dance at the beginning of this book. Next minute, I might add, and rather abruptly, my happy thoughts turned to an exasperated sigh, as Eve and Aidan stumble across a body whilst enjoying time together.

The descriptions of the pond scene and Sophia’s barn are my favourite part of this book. I can visualise in my mind these locations.

Eve and her search and rescue dog Willow, are tasked to find a missing horse. Trained to search for people, this may be a challenge for Willow, she takes it in her stride and gets to work. I, like Willow, relished this opportunity for her to prove to everyone she could find the missing stead! I had to read on and find out.

As with the previous books in this series, Julie McKay’s performance is outstanding. I am swept away to Granite with every word. Julie’s transitions between characters, male and female is amazing. Is this a solo or a multicast performance, who can tell! Julie, your male character voice is top tier!

Dates and Surprises!

Eve finds herself in a budding relationship with Aidan, and going skating seemed like the perfect first date. Finding a body of a missing man under the ice seems crazy, but it certainly disrupted their date! Now another murder on the property, Sophia is a mess. Anyone that is boarding a horse though is suspect. Eve finds herself drawn to finding out the truth! Will the body remain under the ice until spring? Will Eve be able to act normal, and sleuth on the sly? Will she and Aidan ever get back to their first date? Another fun and exciting listen, just long enough to keep me guessing and falling for this new couple!

Julie McKay continues her fabulous narration of this series. She falls into character as Eve as if she is right there finding each and every case. Her voices are so perfect for the many characters, from Eve to Aidan to Sophia keep the story flowing and fun. Love her!
