Monica Samuels is in trouble. Just six weeks after her graduation from the Warner Naval Academy, Pathfinder, her ship, was stolen by other members of the crew. They round up everyone and put them off the ship, but at the last minute, her captain sends her back to join with the thieves.

No instructions, no plans, no weapons, no backup. What was Captain Brighton thinking?

There's no way to tell now, but she had better figure it out fast. The thieves are getting closer to delivering Pathfinder, her secret is only one slip away from being discovered, and there's no one she can trust. But Samuels has vowed to do her duty and protect her ship. In order to do that, she must bring those responsible to their Day of Reckoning.

This was an interesting Sci Fi read! Good, diverse characters, an interesting world and mostly thrilling plot.
Recommended for anyone who like more hard sci-fi or having the engineering of a Sci fi story explained as part of the plot.

The reason I give it 4/5 stars is because so much of the book was just solely focused on figuring out the engineering issues on the ship. It became a bit of a slog to get through at times but everything was wrapped up in the story and the characters kept it flowing well regardless.
There probably needs to be more of a connection for why we should care about the different families controlling the universe, and specifically the Warner family.

The scope of the setting was pretty unique too since it almost entirely took place on only the single ship!

Enjoyably Technology based Sci-Fi.

These authors do a fantastic job of seamlessly creating a story that has been worked by three people (not always the case with multiple authors). Don't let the length of the story deter you from this one. The plot pulls you through, the character development is stellar, and (as a techie) their obvious research and knowledge of technology kept me from rolling my eyes in frustration when technical points were presented (I hate it when things in books and movies don't make sense!).

Wow! Just... Wow!
