Summer is a hectic time of the year for Annie Darling. Sun and scorching temperatures never fail to bring swarms of tourists to her mystery bookstore, Death on Demand. But Annie still finds time to enjoy herself. The Broward's Rock Fourth of July dance is just around the corner, and the island is buzzing with excitement - Shell Hurst included.

Shell is the kind of woman wives hate - and most of them wish she would just disappear. But when she does, Annie can't help but feel like someone should be looking for Shell. The residents of Broward's Rock grow uneasy when a second islander mysteriously disappears. Annie and her husband, Max, soon find themselves following a twisted trail marked by blackmail, betrayal, and adultery.

I have so enjoyed this series, but I'm through. these last 3 are with this new narrator... it's like the body snatchers podded all new characters...disappointed :-(

Like the death of an old friend

This narrator tried too hard to make every sentence sound dramatic. Her reading was almost breathy. There was no differentiation between the words of the characters and the narrative and the accents were all over the place making it very difficult to tell the characters apart.

Bring back Kate Reading

The storyline is okay but Johanna Parker is not Annie Darling. She is Sookie Stackhouse. Never change narrators unless it's an absolute have-to and then find someone with the same type of voice. .I couldn't keep up with this one..

Worst read ever!

I almost skipped this book in the series based on some of the reviews concerning the change in narrator. Glad I didn't! Johanna Parker was an excellent substitution for Kate Reading.

Don't let new narrator dissuade you from listening!

I usually enjoy these books immensely as narrated by Kate Reading. Johanna Parker’s narration is rushed and her southern accent is annoying She conveys little of the warmth and charm of the characters in this series. After 5 chapters I decided I wasn’t going to adjust to her style and returned the audiobook rather than waste a credit on something I couldn’t enjoy. Sorry, Johanna.
