The feading was halting and disjointed. Difficult to enter into the story and history of Santa Fe, which was what drew me to the book, being a new resident of Santa Fe. Disappointed.

Difficult to enjoy the story

This narration is literally painful to listen to. It sounds as if a first grader with an old man’s voice is trying to read for the first time. Audible should be ashamed for allowing this up be offered on their site. It does terrible harm to the excellent writer Willa Cather and to their own reputation. I can’t believe they even charged $1.99 for it. It would not be worth it if it was free. It has cost me much more—the waste of the time I spent listening to it. (Foolishly I listened about an hour before finally realizing the narration was not going to improve.

Narration painful. Ruined book

Reader stumbled, mumbled, could not prounounce the most basic southwest place names, French & Spanish words.
How this production was ever released is a mystery.
I love this wonderful American classic which so captures a time, place and a remarkable man.
The performance was just terrible.

The worst narration of any Audible product I have ever purchased.
