Having witnessed gods fighting during the great incursion, Kai and Zae Zin Nim travel across the continent, hungry to attain those reaches of power. Their search leads them to the riches of Krysal, whose crystal cities tell stories of well-fed citizens... and strength that can be bought.

With his newfound monstrous strength, Kai finds himself treated differently here than in his old home. Servants at his beck and call, and money beyond anything he's ever received. But the luxury makes him uneasy, and the Frontier elites speak of a rot at the nation's core. Meanwhile, Zae Zin Nim’s past looms ever closer and a woman from across the ocean promises even greater revelations. Everything comes together in a conflict that will shake the foundations of Krysal...

Astounding expansion upon the first book. The world takes on its own living feel, with me looking forward to every new vista. The character depth and layering has me excited whether it's a conversation with a merchant or a key figure. The VA also deserves great honors, from the toning, to the pace, they really brought each character to life in a unique way. Oh, and some of the chapter titles were quite funny.

A world tuned

I really like where the story went. Kai is a bit naive. but he is still a young man without alot of real life experience and still cant see the world for what it really is. but i love his journey.

but what i really don't like is the differences in audio volume. One moment the narrator is really whispering and it hardly audible and you have to skip back and put volume on max to hear it and the next moment he is shouting. The females voices are usually lower volume than the males. and listen to a conversation between men and women are really annoying because of this volume issue. i hope the audio production will be better on the next one.

sweet naive kai. do i love to hate it

Depthless Hunger 2 was a great read and an even better listen. All of the best parts of the pilot book are back and better, gripping fights, progression that is always earned, and the good ol’ will they won’t they situationship that fills in the space between fighting and training.

It widens both the world and the cast, more elites, new regions, new main characters (always love Omi!). It expands scope without inviting scope creep.

Overall one of my favorite audiobook releases of the season!

An incredible sequel to a book with incredible potential

Great continuation from the first book. I'm really enjoying the worldbuilding and the progression of the characters in this series. Story is well-written and I'm excited to see where it goes from here.

Great series

This follows the first Depthless Hunger book with continued growth in power by Kai and the development of his relationship with Zae Zin Nim. Kai continues to help others, including a revolt that frees workers from an oppressive situation. Davis is solid as a narrator.

Intriguing follow up
