Six-hundred years after The Outbreak, the human population stand side by side with the Fae & the Vampyrs to stop the Demon King from starting a second Dark War.

Seventeen-year-old Adelaide Tate is in her last year of the Academy, with her eyes set on becoming part of the Red Guard. Who cares that no female has ever joined?

When a dark force develops an unhealthy liking for her, Adelaide needs to fight for her life and figure out what makes her so different from the others.

Betrayal. Fear. Anger.

She must overcome it all in order to turn her world the right way around again.

Adelaide has one choice. Accept the help offered to her by Xander Bane, or face the Demon Hoard alone.

One thing is for sure. The Descent will be bloody.

Contains mature themes.

if you desire a book that keeps delivering right from the first word to the very last, well then, step right. up. That is unless you are feeling timid.

Entertaining, Smooth, Twisted

so the story base is amazing and captivating. Enough to keep me getting the sequels. But the story is so fast paced and missing detail. It skips around and fast forward quite a bit and then your left with "what was the point of this whole chapter". Anyway the narrator is great, but there is some volume issues... the narration is too low and the quotes are very loud. So I'm constantly having to adjust volume. Other than that, she does sooo good with the different voices and expressed emotion. I love that it doesn't sound like shes ready, but that she is acting.

so much potential

OK, I usually enjoy the whole supernatural, paranormal, etc., stories. This is the first time I thought/felt icky about the 18 y.o. girl & the 800 y.o. vampire. I can't even explain it- it just feels off.

Other than that weirdness, the usual plot line, etc., enjoyable enough for a fast read.

Not really sure

Okay, let’s just rip the bandage off—Descent is not a book you read. It’s a collision. Imagine throwing Greek mythology, fallen angels, family secrets, and a girl who refuses to bend to fate into a blender, cranking that thing to obliterate mode, and then drinking it straight with no chaser. That’s this book.

From the first chapter, Murphy yanks you down a rabbit hole of shadows, wings, and unholy hotness that’ll have you questioning whether you should be rooting for salvation or damnation. Spoiler: you’re rooting for both. The world-building? Razor sharp. The tension? Practically illegal. And the characters—oh, the characters. You don’t just meet them; they crash into you like a hurricane that eats your sanity for breakfast and leaves you begging for more.

This isn’t your soft, delicate fantasy. It’s teeth and fire. It’s betrayal dipped in lust. It’s the kind of book where you swear you’ll read one more chapter, then suddenly it’s 3 AM and you’re sitting in the dark wondering how the hell you got here, why your heart is pounding, and whether angels are actually watching you through the ceiling.

If you like your fantasy dark, your romance scorching, and your cliffhangers the kind that make you want to scream into a pillow—welcome to Descent. Just don’t expect to come out of this one sane.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ / Chaos unleashed.
