Adjusting to expectations.

This is the ninth in the Tin Star K9 series. It can be read as a standalone. Caitlyn Reed is a K9 handler for the US Marshall. She is pregnant and realizes that she cannot do everything she would like if she wants to carry her baby to term. She, her brother, who works for the FBI, and his explosive expert wife are placed in a precarious situation while to track down bad guys who want to create an incident to disrupt America.

While on the home front, her step son, Jace, is rebelling and winds up in a tricky situation. Caitlyn’s husband is local Sheriff Colt Branson.

I like how the personal relationships between family members, exes, and blending families are presented. Do I like Alison, not really. I also think Colt and Caitlyn have so talking to do. Both will need to modify their expectations, especially after the baby comes.

I like the pace of the book, the writing style, and the action. I highly recommend this book.

Jase

I love how Jase has become such a great character and how the family comes together to help him through his pre teen moments. I love this whole series, and being a woman that has dyslexia but it was unlike diagnosised until I was a Jr in high school I love being able to get lost in books through audible. I also have a dog that came to me at the beginning of the series, he is taught in Czech just like Caitlin has taught Renegade. Thank you for this awesome series! I cant wait for book 10!

A 5-star listen from one of my favorite authors

DETONATE (Tin Star K9 Series), my twenty-second read from author Jodi Burnett, who is one of my favorite authors. Burnett hits another out of the park with this one. This book continues the trend of well-written, enjoyable books, it caught my attention in the opening pages & I never put it down until completed! Burnett has created a complete world in which her primary characters interact with an ever-expanding world of repeat characters, some very familiar from her other series and at times crossing over. It's been almost 4 years since I read Mile High Mayhem (FBI-K9 Series, #4), my ninth read from Burnett. It was high time Burnett brought back that series and characters, reuniting the family connection. If you haven't read that book and series I highly recommend you do so ASAP. Personally I hope Burnett starts writing in that series, it would be an easy intertwine with the series she's currently invested into. "I received a complementary Audible copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more in this series & more from this author, and look forward to PURSUIT (US Marshal Dirk Sterling Book 5) when it's published in February of 2026 and SURVIVAL (Tin Star K9 Series Book 10) due out in September of 2026, they're already on my TBR list. High Voltage Thriller

Wow! My attention was grabbed from the opening paragraph until the very end, and I listened to this whole audiobook in one sitting. I've enjoyed this whole series, but I thought this was the most exciting adventure yet for US Deputy Marshall Caitlyn Reed and Renegade. Caitlyn teamed up with her brother FBI agent Logan and their dogs, Renegade and Gunner, to look into a potential terrorist plot. The action was almost non-stop, and there were many edge-of-the seat moments. I thought L. B. Neibaur's narration was great as her performance kept my attention. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
