I almost didn’t order the audible version, which is my favorite way to “read” a book, due to the bad reviews on performance. I think she is great! I would much rather hear someone tell their own story when possible. I find her funny and she adds emphasis in her sentences where she sees fit. I really am not understanding the negative reviews. Glad I ordered, so I could enjoy!

The book is actually great, but I admittedly had to listen at 1.5x speed to get past the seriously slow narration and pauses. It was so slow I started drifting off several times and had to rewind to go back over what I’d missed. It’s just a cadence problem. I think with audiobooks a good narrator is one that doesn’t sound like they’re reading, but just speaking the book. But that being said, this is a great book that gets right to the important stuff. I’m definitely on the DLK bandwagon.

I appreciated the author’s compassion and understanding of our fears to change our bodies. In some reviews it was mentioned that her voice was painful to listen to. I actually enjoyed her being herself and just speaking as she was next to me. This has been an extremely helpful book to start my new lifestyle.
