The story and characters have very little framework that makes sense to me. The characters are constantly reacting and acting in nonsense ways. My main issue is with the story and world building after listening to 60-70% of the book I still don't understand the world the magic the motives of any character or faction. Why are elves nature hating human hunting psychopaths and a bunch of other Qs that are never answered. The entire world building story and characters don't have much substance and isn't solid enough to have plot holes. Voice acting has all the problems other reviewers have mentioned shifting accents though its hard to blame the acting when the dialog and chars are so unrealistic and nonsensical. I think most of the story and characters exists in the authors mind and never made it to the page in a way that makes sense to a reader

mediocre at best

Great story and narration!

After traveling to the island of deaths to take on a debt in exchange for magical powers our MC must go on an epic adventure as elves invade this strange Land.

Christian and Erin do a great job with the narration!

I enjoyed the story and can't wait to find out what happens in the next book!

haramtastic!!!

2 items: why is his inner voice (narration) and outer voice different and I love that the Elves sound like they're from Jersey

Elves of Jersey Shore

Fun and sexy. It is a little short on story but pretty good on the harem fun and games.

Good if you want it.

This could have been a really good book but there were issues that in my opinion detracted from the overall book.

"SPOILERS"

The first thing I noted was when the Inn at the start of the story is attacked. Given the violence that the Elves exhibit (loosing an arrow with the intent to kill) why would anyone in that tavern let them continue their violence. In my opinion it was a lazy way to introduce the Villaness of the story. Our MC talks about the old Women and about their proclivity for protecting their young charge. Yet neither they nor the (ALL POWERFUL) Crone do anything to stop the Elves from continuing to attack. The whole situation was odd to me.

Something I could not stand was the act of an archer cutting off a person's limb with a single shot from an oversized arrow. Ignoring the fact that arrows are named bolts several times in this book. BOLTS ARE SMALLER ARROW LIKE PROJECTILES FIRED FROM CROSSBOWS. FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW.

Unless said arrow is magical then the likelihood of it cutting off a limb is zero. Arrows are a peircing weapon and like a spear are capable of killing someone however they do not cut off limbs. And we won't mention that blood loss from a cut off limb would incapacitate any person in short order making energy intensive magic a ridiculous notion. At least in my opinion. Lol

Lastly I'll bring up how strange a pitched battle inside a castle is. Battles in fortresses are always fought on the walls. If the enemy ever pushes deep enough inside a fortress then that most certainly means that the castle defenses have failed and the battle is all but lost for the defenders. MEANING THEY ALL DIE. The only other explanation for what happens in the Valkyre's castle would be that a small elite force penetrated into the castle with some goal in mind. However such a plan is all but suicide. I am just puzzled because the Valkyre seem to still be a powerful force (meaning they didn't get wiped out) and the elven leader was not killed or captured by the Valkyre as they no doubt rallied and killed the invaders to their home.

There were many such small issues that bugged me as I continued listening to this audiobook.

Half Decent Story But Lackluster Storytelling
