An electrifying tale of deceit and obsession from New York Times bestselling author of The Good Girl Mary Kubica

In downtown Chicago, Esther Vaughan disappears from her apartment without a trace. A haunting letter addressed to My Dearest is found among her possessions, leaving her roommate Quinn Collins to question how well she really knew her friend. Meanwhile, in a small town an hour outside Chicago, a mysterious woman appears in the quiet coffee shop where eighteen-year-old Alex Gallo works as a dishwasher. He is immediately drawn to her, but what starts as an innocent crush quickly spirals into something far more sinister.

As Quinn searches for answers about Esther, and Alex is drawn further under the stranger’s spell, master of suspense Mary Kubica takes readers on a taut and twisted thrill ride that builds to a stunning conclusion and shows that no matter how fast and far we run, the past always catches up with us.

What did you like best about Don't You Cry? What did you like least?

The Narrators RUIN this book. I read on others similiar reviews and one where the woman drove them nuts. For me it was the man "Alex", I kept tuning out. He was pretentious, dry, and didn't get the essence for the 18 year old kid that he was supposed to be reading for. Story is good, but this is one I wish I would have read.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Kate Rudd and Kirby Heyborne ?

Anyone but Kirby Heyborne. Who has a nice voice. Just really missed the mark on this one. Specifically when he goes into detail. I vividly remember him describing Pear and her Ombre hair. They way he said Ombre immediately struck a nerve. Like you're supposed to be an 18 year old boy.

Terrible Narrators....Just Terrible

I'm praying for an amazing twist somewhere in this book, but so far I'm just flustered and bored.
Here's to hoping this slow moving book picks up the pace soon....

Also. The male narrator is pretty annoying. Weird pauses. Too theatrical.

Six hours in and so bored.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I can't get this book out of my head. Not because it was good, it was terrible. The novel is repetitive. It has endless, mind-numbing detail and description of places and people that don't matter to the plot. It throws in fancy words just to see if you're paying attention. Did I mention it's repetitive? Does the person who wrote this book think we're stupid? She treats us like we are. This is not a thriller. At the end, I couldn't have cared less what happened to the characters. They were bland and annoying.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Don't know

Did Kate Rudd and Kirby Heyborne do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Just okay.

Could you see Don't You Cry being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

God no!

Would the Real Mary Kubica Please Stand Up?

I didn't care for this book. For the first seven hours I kept wondering when something was going to happen, the two stories never connect until the last hour.

Very slow
