Heavy is the head who wears the crown. That goes double for the dragon king.

Zach is wrapping up the end of the school year, trying to juggle his new independent study, where Sabrina and the dragons teach him magic while also being the king of dragons, a sitting member of the Philly Council, and a good mate to six.

But the dragon king doesn’t sleep, not when Silverwing Mercenaries has a case from the council. Vampires have had some change in leadership in Philly, and trouble is brewing.

Maddie and Frank are at their wits' end with the strangeness around Zach, and Maddie gets too nosy, landing herself smack in the middle of his troubles.

Did I mention that Helena is in town? As an FBI agent, of all things, tracking down a series of demonic killings that led her right to Philly, where the demon seems to be setting up shop.

Entertaining story, but Morgana is by far the best character so far. More interesting & developed. Love her character! Looking forward to more soon.

I absolutely love this story and only have one single gripe about it: Much as it pains me to say...he has too many women in his harem and not enough personality or voices to go around.

Yeah, yeah, I get it. It's a harem, that's kinda par for the course, but...he's just getting so many of them and it's getting hard to tell them apart. It hasn't really hurt the story yet, but I fear that something will need to change or is already in the works to be changed (ex. somebody is gonna die).

This is in no way a mark against the female VA, she's wonderful and is only working with the script/story she's given.

Again though, I still love the story all the same and will be getting the next one. 👍

Really enjoying the whole series and can't wait to continue it. The story feels like it can grow so much more.

Love it

I enjoyed the books and listened to them back to back, over a couple of days. However, the author isn’t holding true to his word in not leaving the group of main characters behind. Sure we hear about the first through the third mate, but as they are suppose to be the core you would think that the story would evolve around the group not just the protagonist. I was excited to see this evolution play out, but as new characters enter, obviously due to the nature of the dragons harem, we see less and less of the originals because of the focus on the new characters. Each new book focuses on a character and then wraps the new harem potentials in and slowly removes the primary characters. I had hoped we would see the evolution of the primary characters while adding mates not adding mates as the primary focus of every book. The book is easy to follow and I am listening to them for a second time to see what I missed and realized that I didn’t miss much because there is no real depth to the books. The books follow a simple pattern new harem potential, a crisis the protagonist needs to solve, and then it’s rinse and repeat for the next book. While the writing is good and the non depth make for an easy read/listen as I approach book six for the second time I am really not that interested. While I will finish the series as book seven has been written just not converted to Audible and it’s rumored book eight may be the last, it isn’t a surprise.
