I was quite surprised at how much I enjoyed this story about Shou Lung. After reading Horselords (which I also enjoyed despite its slow pace), I was expecting a decent story. I got a great tale of desperate battles, tragic losses, court intrigue, etc. Very enjoyable! The reader was okay but not great.
