USA Today bestselling author Scarlett Scott returns with a sinfully hot tale of a feisty lady determined to win her brother's best friend and the wicked duke who has vowed to never fall in love....

As heartless as he is handsome, Aubrey Villiers, the Duke of Richford, has perfected the art of not caring one whit about anything except his pursuit of pleasure. His past is as dark as his moods, and the rumors about his curious carnal needs would make any proper innocent miss swoon.

Lady Rhiannon Northwick, however, is anything but proper. And as for her innocence? She has a plan in mind to rid herself of that rather nettlesome inconvenience. Infiltrating the sinful house party hosted by her older brother is easy. Seducing his good friend, the brooding Duke of Richford, proves far more difficult.

Although Richford may be a conscienceless rake, he isn’t about to deflower the stubborn hellion who tempts him at every turn, regardless of how badly he wants to. Rhiannon, who has long harbored a secret tendre for the duke, is equally determined to change his mind.

Torn between his demons, his loyalties, and the last woman on earth he should desire, Richford is faced with an impossible choice—sever all ties with Rhiannon for her own sake, or risk the deadly past repeating itself once again.

I thought this book was the best in the series so far. this book series is incredible. I was really surprised to see the ratings of book #4 was low. it was a really great story. It finally introduced what their parties are like. I can't wait for the next book to come out in April

I truly enjoyed this story / book, but disliked the female reader's voice enactment. It is too flamboyant; making it hard to understand the dialog various times throughout the story. It sounds like she is shouting at you most of the time. Chapter 15 is especially hard to understand which was quite frustrating. It is beautifully written, a hot and steamy scene, you should not have to concentrate hard on to understand. I found myself needing to rewind parts of this chapter just to understand what the reader was stating. You should not have to do this to understand a spicy sex scene.
The male reader's voice is fabulous. Very smooth, sexy and easy to listen too. The storyline is great; just be aware, the female voice is way over the top and frustrating to understand from time to time.

Great Story, Voice performance ???

The female narrator could not do a male voice. I almost couldn't finish the book.

The heroine in the book was very childish, selfish, and frankly stupid. It was hard to root for her.
The hero was more likable and funny but also made stupid choices.
The story was way too long, waiting for it to end. The author over did it with the intimate scenes, they were so cringe at times and redundant, to the point I was rolling my eyes and shaking my head.
The male narrator was great with the male voice, not so much the female voice.
The female narrator was terrible and sounded like an old lady.
I feel the author is starting to go down a path of shock and porn vs quality of story. It’s a shame because she’s written some great stories with great characters in the past.

Couldn’t Wait For It to End

I was so eager & waited for this story & ordered right away. But this read more like a cheesy porno. 5-6 chapters are nothing but sex (variety), which in and of itself would've been ok IF the reader was shown something more compelling in the other chapters to form a relationship foundation that would support the HEA. But it didn't. Most chapters were inner thoughts of lust or unrequited love, self-loathing by hero, or more sex scene setups. No intimate conversations where they connect or share anything personal. NONE. It was weird for a romance.

[SEMI-SPOILER BELOW]
Then the final hour when the HEA was laid out was just plain silly. It was like an overly-dramatized 1930s gangster movie & made me laugh instead of feel anything for the hero/heroine. And it frustrated me to see the decisive hoyden heroine become a ninny. Then there was the wholly unbelievable declaration of love by the hero in which the heroine doesn't even question the scene she walked in on or what made him change his mind after more than a month? Not one question or a
dialogue before she just rolls over to accept him? That conversation didn't happen until the last 10 minutes after everything was already glossed over. It was illogical.

For this author whom I like most every novel & bought many...it was odd to not connect to any of the characters in the story & feel like it was silly, illogical emotionally, & overly reliant on sex to replace dialogue and character interaction (relationship arc). Sadly, I was disappointed.
