My name is Pamela, and I am the strongest witch the world has ever seen. Only I’m not just a witch, I’m an elemental, and that truth makes me a target and a threat.
The elementals of this world are done hiding in the shadows. And there is a faction of them who want to rule our world. They want to put the humans beneath their heels, and they want all the power to themselves. Standing between them and their goal are only two people, two that still hold a connection to Spirit, the key to stopping them. Myself, and my father.
But the elementals we face are no fools. They’ve taken the most precious thing from us both. A child who could be everything they need to force all the elementals to bend a knee. A child whom I’ve always known was special.
They’ve taken Frost.
If I have to break the world again to find him, I will. Because I’m done hiding too. And the elementals had better be ready to play.

It’s taken me a while to ruminate on the contents of this book before I could leave a review. The series is still SOOOOO DARK, and this last book is no exception. There’s a conclusion; kind of, and after letting things settle for me after reading it, I can say I am satisfied with the ending and wouldn’t be upset if this series didn’t continue
for much longer.
This book was so difficult for me to read because it’s like a train wreck. Not the writing, or content really, but Pamela struggles so much and turns on her friends and family to do what she thinks is right; yet she has a warped sense of reality due to (a plot twist). There’s a duplicity to the book since you get the situations from Pam’s perspective, and also Alex’s. It did take me a while to understand what was really going on because my gut instinct is to trust the main character’s point of view. It’s what I’ve been trained to believe in so many books. The fact that it isn’t is pure writing genius; but you can’t help but cringe when you see the world through her eyes though you know what she’s doing is wrong on so many levels. This hasn’t been my favorite series of Mayer’s, but I appreciate the writing style, plot, and storyline. Mayer never takes the easy way out, and this is no exception. She really is brilliant. Twisted; but brilliant.
More Writing Brilliance; Yet Still Difficult/Dark
