Will the survivors of Cloverdale stay united? Or will temptation divide them? How many will succumb to the evil that lurks in the shadows just beyond the town limits?

Strong Characters Keep the Apocalypse Alive

Endurance continues to prove that Bruno Miller’s biggest strength in this series is the characters. In a world where society has collapsed, the survivors of Cloverdale feel believable because they each contribute something meaningful to the group, whether it’s leadership, practical skills, or simply keeping hope alive when everything around them is falling apart. The book does a great job showing how survival isn’t just about fighting off looters or finding supplies — it’s about building a functioning community from the ashes of normal life. The tension with the outlaw gang adds a steady sense of danger, and there’s enough suspense to keep the pages turning.

That said, the pacing does hit a few speed bumps along the way. Some sections, particularly the extremely detailed process of moving cars around to create barricades, drag on longer than necessary even if the strategy itself made perfect sense in the context of survival. Still, the grounded realism and strong group dynamic help carry the slower moments. If you’ve enjoyed the series so far, Endurance delivers more of the same gritty post-apocalyptic atmosphere, loyal characters, and constant fight to hold onto humanity when the world has gone completely off the rails.

Great Series.
