The Bugs are coming...

They destroyed the civilization of the ancient alien Elders thousands of years ago, and now they’re following Andy Clanton and the crew of the James Bowie back from the edge of the galaxy and into Alliance space, bent on wiping out all intelligent life in the galaxy.

The Bugs probe for weakness, attacking new friends and old enemies, and forcing Andy and the others into union with forces that had tried to destroy them only months before and putting a wedge between the Earth and the Alliance.

But politics will soon take a backseat to survival, and if the Alliance wants to win the war that the Elders lost, then Andy Clanton is going to have to find a way to get past old grudges and force them to stand together…because the Bugs’ next target is Earth.

Can Andy Clanton and the forces of the Alliance do what the gods themselves couldn’t? Or will they fall to a nameless, faceless enemy from the farthest reaches of the universe?

Seriously, what’s with the Starship Troopers movie hate? That movie was a masterpiece of propaganda showing the horrible humans attacking a defense alien civilization. While Dizzy was great, she could have done way better than Johnny. Don’t follow someone into the military.

Oh the audiobook? It’s phenomenal. Narration is perfect. Now back to Starship Troopers…

Author hates starship troopers

I am definitely going to finish the entire series. The main character is likeable and real. The humor isn't contrived and there isn't a constant barrage of foul language, yet typical military in the middle of a fight. There is well written imagery to see in your mind vividly the action, with empathy.

The ENTIRE SERIES IS EXCELLENT!

I enjoy all of Rick’s writing but I have 2 problems with this series. 1) the reader Mr. Self is using the exact same voices he used o. The John Ryan series. I know it must be difficult to come up with so many unique voices but I almost feel you need to explore another reader because it’s very weird to hear characters we know and live recreated in a similar story framework.2) I promised myself I would not buy books under 10 hours long. If that’s the story it’s one thing but in this one he split the story in two small half’s for no other reason than to make more money. I go through hundreds of books a year and it is just too much when they get down to 7 hours for a credit. IMHO. I know numerous writers that 10+ books into a series are still making books 12 hours long. It’s a matter of respect for your audience.

Great story but…
