#1 NATIONAL BESTSELLER • INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • For her entire adult life, Oprah Winfrey has struggled with her weight. She never thought in her lifetime, medicines would provide hope, health, and healing for people like her. But as her conversations with Dr. Ania Jastreboff from the Yale School of Medicine reveal, we’ve learned that having obesity is not a choice. It’s not a question of willpower.

Obesity is a disease.

It’s a question of biology, created by our bodies’ need to survive and the environment we created and now live in.

And it’s treatable.

The new medications can lower our body fat set point (our brain’s “Enough Point”), so that we lose weight without battling biology with willpower. Dr. Jastreboff describes strategies to optimize health and manage side effects all with the reassuring perspective of decades of experience treating patients with obesity and leading studies with these medications.

Many of her patients say the “food noise” that plagued them for years has evaporated. They describe a new freedom from intrusive, persistent, and disruptive thoughts about food. With treatment they begin a journey of healing with self-compassion, devoid of the shame and blame they’ve endured from society for decades.

Oprah says she’s learned so much from Dr. Jastreboff about how, when it comes to weight, our bodies work with us—and also against us. How each of our struggles are different and each of our choices in living with obesity may also be different.

Dr. Jastreboff’s groundbreaking research offers a new way forward, not only for obesity treatment, but also for overall health, with significant implications for the prevention and reversal of hundreds of related diseases. As she demonstrates in this book, when science meets empathy, real healing becomes possible.

Yes, there is a path to healing and leading the life you have always wanted, when your brain is reassured that you have “enough.”

Finally. At last, I am vindicated. No one believed me when I said that I did not understand why I was overweight, that I suffered from metabolic syndrome, that I was insulin resistant, and that being « fat » was not as simple as simply, through sheer willpower, reducing the calories I consumed. Today, I am 71, 5ft 1 and 176 lbs. Until the age of 38, I had been a size 4 or 6. Then, I became a teacher in a public middle school, and I moved to the suburbs. The unremitting, chronic stress and driving everywhere, combined, broke my health. At the end of that year, I weighed myself, and was shocked, stunned, to see that I weighed 143 lbs. I had gained 20 lbs. in one year, developed endometriosis (undiagnosed then because doctors didn’t know it existed !), anemia, fibroids, and started on an almost Zero Fat Jane Fonda diet. I diagnosed myself as insulin resistant, and gained more lbs. every year after that. All I had to do was breath air and I would gain weight! No one anywhere helped me. I was « overweight/fat » because I simply ate too much, etc., etc. I have lived in Shame and Humiliation for the past 34 years.
Today, after listening to this book, I feel vindicated. I had always known in my gut that being obese/fat was not simply as simple as calories in+calories burned =weight. Who/What controls what we eat? The answer was always - your willpower ! This book states that our brain, following the information provided by our hormones, controls what we eat, not our willpower. Thank you, medical science !

My primary doctor just retired, so I have to find a new doctor and get on this medication asap, for my bad knees, feet, and prediabetic body are crying out for help. I can barely walk without pain anymore !
Could it be true? There is light at the end of the tunnel and it’s not an oncoming train ? I wish I lived near Yale University and could become wonderful Dr.Anja’s patient. She reads with such sincerity, love and compassion. Thank you to Oprah, as well, who has shared her Obesity Battles and Victory as a gesture of Public Service. It has certainly helped me, as it will help hundreds of millions of people suffering with Obesity around the world.

Loved Oprah's narration and Dr. Ania's level of detail and real life stories. I recently reluctantly started Zepbound. Reading 'Enough' has inspired me and eased my "taking the easy way out" belief. The realization that it is not my fault is a relief. Now knowing that white noise of hunger is actually real. I have been so hard on myself for gaining so much weight but now I can use Zepbound as a tool to quiet the noise and return to my health self. THANK YOU both for this brillant book!!
