Fan favorite Etta Mae Wiggins takes center stage in the latest novel in Ann B. Ross' New York Times best-selling Miss Julia series with another lively adventure set in Miss Julia's Abbotsville. For the first time, though, she writes from the perspective of another resident: the hardscrabble, heart-of-gold Etta Mae Wiggins.

Etta Mae is frustrated with her trailer-park life and her no-good family, and she has big dreams for something better. Working as the home nurse for the elderly but wealthy Howard Connard, Sr., she finally sees her chance - with her sexy curves and infectious charm, Etta Mae is determined to become his wife. Unfortunately, Connard's scheming, money-hungry son and stuck-up daughter-in-law are equally determined to make sure she doesn't. To make matters worse, Etta Mae's ex-husband Skip (her first ex that is) has shown up with a winning lottery ticket in his hand and local thugs hot on his heels. Plus, her dreamy former flame, officer Bobby Lee, keeps popping up to remind her that she's not over him yet. In the middle of all this mayhem, Etta Mae has to get that marriage license - before it's too late! A hilarious wild goose chase that takes us from the mansions of Abbotsville to the trailer park that Etta Mae calls home, this book is filled with familiar faces (including Miss Julia, who narrates the first chapter), features Ann Ross' signature wit and southern charm, and will appeal to fans of the beloved series and newcomers alike.

...to entertain and amuse. In this book she takes the reader on a different trail by using one of the supporting characters to expand the Miss Julia collection and the usual fun follows. If you’re expecting this story to be narrated by Miss Julia and think you might be disappointed by having it told by Etta Mae instead, please give it a chance. The main character may not be what you’re expecting but you’ll not be sorry you decided to stick around for this Ann Ross story. Two thumbs up, A++, and a 5 star rating all around!

I have become somewhat addicted to the Miss Julia series. it is often amusing and sometimes quite exciting. you dont have to worry about anything truly awful happening but the characters suffer through trials and challenges as do we all. As a southern woman in the senior category.. I enjoy the southern humor it showcases.

fun entertainment.. light but engagin

I was so disappointed, I wait for each addition of Ann B. Ross's books this one is not anything worth the cost of the book. What happened?? Etta Mae seems to think that Ms. Julia is not very nice to her and if you have read the prior books you would know that the two women have a deep respect for each other and this addition seems to not be that way at all. I would love to hear from other fans.

I am a big fan of Ms. Julia Books I have them all

I have always looked forward to Ann B. Ross' works but with this one I found it disappointing, because of the profanity. I seek good clean books and thought I found it. I have read all of the Miss Julia series and loved each one. Ms. Ross isn't there enough profanity in the world without including it in our reading entertainment?
