Their extinction will be the beginning of ours....
All over the world, birds falling out of the sky cause countless traffic accidents. Reports of dead fish washing up follow. As the mysterious death of animals increases and a terrifying future unfolds, a family in a small Vermont town grapples with the inexplicable.
With emergency phone lines tied up, Emily Mansfield, a science teacher, finds herself stranded miles from home with an injury and forced into a race against time when strangers kidnap her child for unknown reasons.
In a state of desperation, Emily turns to Game Warden, Travis Young, and her ex-husband for help in getting her back alive. But the odds of survival drop by the hour when exacerbated by a deadly medical condition and unforeseen chaos.
Delivering tension and thrills that will hold you until the end, international best-selling author Jack Hunt offers a gripping snapshot of a world unraveled by an extinction event unlike any other.

From the author blurb, I was expecting a post-apocalyptic/survival thriller. I think I got about half-way through expecting the post-apocalypse to occur and what I would expect to see. Instead, we are thrown into an urban suspense thriller, with a global event happening in the background. This story is technically a pre-apocalyptic thriller! While I was a bit 'meh' on this fact, the actual meat of the story was convincing.
A few of the events seems to be tall tales, but I enjoyed it all the way through. Lots of characters to like and baddies to not like just the same. I also love Vermont, and loved the scenery of Vermont back-country. All in all, I would still give this book a recommend, even with its *maybe* mis-categorization. I think you'll like it!
A sorta apocalyptic thriller that didnt disappoint

I his story follows a biologists, her abusive ex husband- who is a cop-and her boyfriend, a game officer as the bird falling from the sky, try to navigate a rescue of her kidnapped daughter. It honestly tugs at your heart the entire book. It feels like this would be a great movie for those who don’t like to read or listen to books.
This is a fast paced book after the birds fall. It’s slower coming up to that point. Some of the dialogue is hard to discern who’s talking as a listener. Mostly in interactions between the kidnappers. It is predictable at times, for those who love crime- I was so involved by then, that it didn’t bother me at all.
Highly recommend, 10/10.
This book is for who like action, adventure people, true crime lovers and those who like a bit of mystery. As well as people who like series. It’s for Parents, those who struggle understanding diabetes or other Illnesses like that.
I would suggest she 18+ with the graphic nature of the crimes in this book, and triggers-such as kidnapping, violence, murder, domestic violence, drug abuse, and vehicle accidents.
I was given this book to review . This book was reviewed honestly.
This book… hits all the feels! (Trigger warning)
