When Joe walks out of Rose's life, she can't imagine life without him. But with support from her friends - and an unexpected person - Rose finds her way to climb out of her despair. After his father's blackmail forces him to leave the love of his life to protect her, Joe is thrown into the race for Arkansas State Senate. But while Rose has people to help her grieve, Joe finds himself completely alone - except the one person he detests is the only person who's offering comfort.

So much better with this narrator. I almost quit this series because of the first narrator, but stayed with it because some of you said it will get better with the narrator change! Thanks!

Narrator so much better

Really enjoyed this one that we got Joe’s point of view. Still very upset with how him and Rose ended. Ready for the next one though! And can Violet get any more infuriating?

Great interlude

I almost left the series due to the previous narrator. The mispronounced words and odd inflections were distracting. However, the narrator was actually able to change her voice well between characters quite well. Hopefully the new narrator will grow into her role and develop her character voices.

Glad to Have a New Narrator.

Though I loved getting into Joe’s head, this one tugged st my heart strings. “Please don’t take her from me.” Just got to me. The narrator is -a bit better than Frances Fuller, but she’s devoid of emotion and flow of her words. I enjoy the series so much, I’m certainly willing to look past that!

Loved it

I started with the first book and have been working my way through. I've liked all of them so far except this one. First they changed the narrator which took a while to get used to, the southern accent was completely dropped. I suppose it was because many people complained about the last narrator. Second this book is short and nothing really happens. This book feels like a filler. I think all of it could have been summed up in a couple chapters at the beginning of the next book which I will be listening to, despite my disappointment in this one.

Too short
