"I have faults enough, but they are not, I hope, of understanding." -Mr. Darcy, Pride and Prejudice

When Fitzwilliam Darcy makes an impetuous offer of marriage to Miss Elizabeth Bennet, he is convinced they have as good a chance as any for a harmonious life together. That is, until an overheard conversation changes everything, and Darcy realizes he is now joined in perpetuity to a woman who loathes the very sight of him.

Elizabeth Bennet's expectations for matrimonial accord were never very high, having accepted Mr. Darcy's proposal in a fit of pique, not love. Still, she is determined to make the best of her situation, despite having tied herself to such an arrogant, disagreeable man.

But life at Pemberley is not at all what she imagined, and Elizabeth soon finds herself with more questions than answers about the enigmatic gentleman she agreed to wed.

Trapped in a marriage founded on misunderstandings, Fitzwilliam and Elizabeth Darcy struggle with deepening attraction while confronting self-doubt and old betrayals. But is love enough to heal the wounds of the past? What will it take for two people bound by duty to find their way home to one another?

This will definitely be a re-listen. The readers got to see Darcy’s kinder side throughout the story. There was a lot of miscommunication but, of course, a happy ending was had by all. Except Lady Catherine, of course. The narrator was excellent! I refuse to listen to any books rad by a virtual voice.

A variation with a few new twists

Without giving anything away, there are some great twists in this story for characters other than ODC.

The story, however, for ODC is well done as well. The “usual misunderstandings” are resolved fairly quickly as Lizzy blurts out her accusations of mistreatment of Wickham in the early days of their marriage.

But, there are many more secrets to uncover and wounds to heal as Lizzy discovers who Darcy really is and Darcy overcomes other hurts from his past.

Really Enjoyed This Story

I bought this book when it was released in 2021 and was happy to see the audiobook released. It is truly excellent. The variation is unique, brilliantly written and a pleasurable listen, thanks to Stevie Zimmerman, who is always outstanding in all her performances.

Darcy and Elizabeth — While these two beloved characters will frustrate you to no end at times, you cannot help but love them, and even cry for them.

This book is a favourite and I most highly recommend it. I know for sure I will be reading and listening to the audiobook again.

A Pleasure to Read and Listen

First of all, I have come to appreciate the voice of the reader! I have listened to others and there was one book that I listened to in which the reader drove me crazy because of mispronouncing so many words! I always appreciate a good reader who changes their voice for different characters and reads correctly, interpreting punctuation marks! I’m more interested in the story itself rather than mistakes being made, making my skin crawl!

The story itself was so wonderful and well written! I personally love all of the Elizabeth & Darcy variations, because I know that they will be clean! This particular book was difficult for me to put down! There’s intrigue and a need to solve issues, but it ends nicely and everyone is happy! I highly suggest you try this book! You won’t be sorry!

Enjoyable Journey!
