Finding Maura

Maura is a busy mother of four with a picture-perfect marriage and a best friend that has her back no matter what—until now. With an empty house, her marriage on the rocks, and no one left to turn to, Maura takes off for a weekend alone at the family cabin, a remote "home away from home", left to her and her husband, Mitch, after his parents died in a car accident two years ago.

The cabin is idyllic, the perfect place for Maura to get her head together, but there are questions about how Mitch’s parents were really killed, and when a private investigator starts sniffing around, Maura’s getaway quickly goes from peaceful to terrifying.

After being stalked by a shadowy stranger, cut off from her family and friends, and not knowing who to trust, Maura goes missing. Mitch, the private investigator, and the local sheriff band together to look for her—but one of them doesn’t want Maura to be found.

A fun intro to the suspense genre

This story was great, and extremely relatable of how the life of a mom can feel. The beginning was a bit slow but once it really got started it was a nice cozy suspense book. If you aren’t a huge fan of horror and scares, but like a little bit of that spooky uneasy feeling this is great for you! I think my only complaint is the suspense wasn’t drawn out enough for my taste, but it was done well!
