unexpected twist!

I had this saved in my TBR for the last several months after seeing it recommended on a post by the author in the psychological thriller readers Facebook group. Finally gave it a chance and was pleased instantly. I made a far fetched guess and while I was right, the author did am excellent job of leading me in an entirely different direction while still throwing enough red flags and questioning looks at the real villain so that it wasn't one of those books that makes you say "that guy? no way!".

Unique and worth a credit, highly recommend, different than most reads but good twist.. period

entertaining

This was my first thriller from James Caine and I would definitely read more from him. This wasn't groundbreaking by any means but definitely kept me entertained and wondering what was going to happen next. I thought the explanation of who the characters were at the end was a little lazy of a reveal but was otherwise fine. I was surprised by the turn of events and who ended up being the villain. This was a fast moving, quick read and left me satisfied. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
