Henry Hale, the protagonist, is an 18-year-old fighting tooth and nail for survival on the unforgiving streets in the heart of Boston, Massachusetts. From Henry's fierce determination to survive to the camaraderie and betrayal within the various gangs, the novel paints a vivid picture of life on the streets.
This book delves into a dark and a triggering subject, including violence and abuse with a lot of action, and sheds light on an often overlooked segment of society.
The narrator, Aaron Smith did a great job. His pacing was right for the story. His tone and characterization kept me attentive throughout the book.
I definitely recommend this audiobook.

Five Statues follows the life of Henry Hale, a foster kid who just turned 18 years. After suffering abuse his whole life, and since no one really cares about him to help build a future for himself, he finds himself fighting for his life on the streets of Boston.
This novel paints a vivid and realistic picture of the real life of teens who slip from the system and find themselves struggling to stay alive on the streets. It is a violent, fast-paced, and action-packed novel without any dull moment.
I wish the author went a bit further with the story to answer so many unanswered questions: What happened to Henry next? What happened to the gang cooperation? Did that cooperation last longer than the contest and did it affect the dynamics with the remaining gangs?...
The narratordid a wonderful job by setting the pace of the story and describing the different characters.
I highly recommend this audiobook.
