Perfect for family with teenagers; brilliant

Brilliant, funny, intense, heartbreaking (but not in the Old Yeller way, there is a happy ending). Our 14 year old loved listening to it with us-- the combination of humor, commentary on us humans, and outrageousness with a strong message. You'll never look at a dog the same again...

The Perfect Book

I wish I could give this book more than five stars. It's the perfect book. Amazon lists reading age as 3-12. I disagree. A three year old would like the pictures, maybe, but I don't think it would hold the attention of a toddler. This book is suitable for everyone else though; way older than 12. You could read it to your five year old in installments. As an adult, I loved it. I plan on re-reading it. I just want to know if the Duuglitz tuft is a real thing! Seriously though, if you have ever loved or been loved by a dog, this book is for you.

Given who the author is of this book, I was super curious about the illustrations. Some are available online for a sneak peek, but I plan on purchasing the book in print so I can see all of the pictures. Plus, it's an amazing book that I want to own and share with others. As for this audio version, the narrator is perfect. He paints a picture of each character almost as well as the author. I highly recommend this book. It would be a good book to listen to with your children. As an adult though, you would enjoy it just as much. It's for everyone.

Great story!

I enjoyed listening to this with my kid. Her favorite part is near the end so I won't say what it is but it was my favorite too. the whole story was really great.
