A 1930s gem

Please offer Heyer’s other mysteries- you could almost see this as a black & white period film

Very enjoyable.

Unexpectedly good. The characters were interesting and well fleshed out. I hope Book 2 comes to audible.

Lighthearted gothic

Full of footsteps in the dark, a masked monk up to no good, creaks and groans, and hidden identities. Lively characters, some funny dialogue, a bit of romance - an entertaining mix. Well read, too.

The variety of characters and the narration are a perfect match!

Georgette Heyer is an excellent storyteller and this narrator does a great job with each character. I was very entertained and impressed with the voices of each character being correct in tone and timbre.
