Critic reviews

"Since he received an Audie nomination for Volume I and an Audie Award for Volume II, it’s not surprising that Charlton Griffin gives another extraordinary performance in this volume of Sherlock Holmes works. In addition to impeccable interpretations of familiar characters - Holmes, Watson, Mycroft, and Lestrade - Griffin creates remarkably believable women. Griffin’s narration is fresh, flawless, and completely winning." (AudioFile magazine)

Would you consider the audio edition of The Complete Stories of Sherlock Holmes to be better than the print version?

This is not applicable in my case.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character I would have to say is Watson, because he proves himself in most cases just as good at deduction as Holmes.

Have you listened to any of Charlton Griffin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not listened to other recordings.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The greatest detective.

Any additional comments?

As soon as I was introduced to audiobooks when I was in high school, my first book was a collection of Holme's cases. I loved these cases so much, I was hoping that the entire library would be recorded some day. Thankfully, This masterful recording was posted. I found myself in nineteenth century London. picturing myself solving cases. I loved every one of the novels, but I direct your attention to my favorite cases. The man with the twisted lip, the red headed league, the adventure of the specled band, and the adventure of the blue carbunkle. I can't state enough that this is a must have listen if you are a Holmes fan.

Excellent recording! A must listen.

one off the bucket list. it was not a disappointment. it took a while and I never realized how much of an impersonable horse's ass Holmes was, but he was right in each case. there is something to learn from that though in how to treat people. the narrator did a wonderful job changing his voice to match the different characters.
