For the first time ever, the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society has produced an audio recording of all of Lovecraft's stories. These are not dramatizations like our Dark Adventure Radio Theatre - rather, this is an audiobook of the original stories, in all-new, never-before-heard recordings made by the HPLHS' own Andrew Leman and Sean Branney exclusively for this collection. Working from texts prepared by Lovecraft scholar S.T. Joshi, this collection spans his entire career from his earliest surviving works of childhood to stories completed shortly before his death. All tales include original music by HPLHS composer Troy Sterling Nies. This audio bonanza features 74 stories adding up to more than fifty (50!) hours of Lovecraftian listening fun, professionally performed and recorded for your enjoyment.

I purchased this audio book and I was not the least bit disappointed. The tales are reminiscent of Edgar Allen Poe with its dark, Gothic prose and fantastic descriptions. The first person narratives pulled you into the story.

However, it's the hard, skillful work of Andrew Leman and Sean Branney that brought the audio book to vivid life. I wish these two readers could read for every audio book. They're not just reading; they are acting the part of the narrator and take great pains to make pronunciation of foreign words sound fluid and natural.

This audio book is by far the best I've listened to and has, unfortunately, spoiled me. I now look for audio books with readers beyond passable instead of books that I prefer.

This audio book was worth every single penny and I can't recommend it enough.

On a scale 1 to 5, this is a 10!

I feel like the narrator's really cared about their craft. They do a great job, there's a lot of care in the curation of this. The writing itself is very beautiful, with Lush vocabulary.

what began to divorce me from the stories was a general lack of surprise for me. It's not quite the author's fault, but with the way tropes are today, it was a little bit easier to guess what was going to happen. also, I realize that he was active in the early 1900s, but the blatant racism did start to wear on me. There's only so long I can read about how someone was "dumber" or "lesser" for being a race before it pulled me out of the story. in the works where it wasn't so heavily pushed it was fine, I could divorce the author's intent from his works and view it as a study into the 1920s.

That isn't to say, that I think this problem will affect everyone. Honestly, I wish that I didn't hyper focus on it. I feel like I sort of ruined these books for myself.

if you want beautifully curated fascinating looks into the cold, Slow Burn horror, and a look into the works that inspired pop culture today: read it.

These narrators do wonderful performances. They're beautiful to listen to.

Great Narrators!

Ignore the other Lovecraft audiobooks. (Trust me; I've listened to all of them.) The guys who recorded this did an awesome job and obviously had a lot of love for the material. The most complete collection available, as well.

This is a great book - the narration is wonderful. However, 50 hours of straight HP is a little much - I used this book to listen to in segments between other books so it took me months to get through. Most stories are great, some so-so and a couple I had no idea why he wrote them. Great overall but I would recommend doing it in small doses so it doesn't get stale and repetitive

Great Book - Do it in segments

Good performance often lazy writing, I wish I had a dollar for every time something was “indescribable “ you’re a writer, describing things is your job!

Good reading performance hit or miss stories.
