Aileen from the MacKinnon clan was out walking and met Craig from the MacNeil clan. The two clans had a bitter rivalry between them, but Aileen and Craig formed a close relationship while picking and eating blackberries.

One day, Rhona, Aileen's sister, followed her on one of her walks out of the village and found that her sister was meeting with a man from a hated clan. Rhona told Aileen to stop the meeting or else she would tell their parents, and she had a fear that she would be shunned and told to leave the village. Aileen then started seeing Craig late at night while others slept, until her sister again found out and reported it to her parents and the clan chief.

On meeting the clan chief, Aileen begged him that he should let Craig join the tribe, but the chief set a stipulation that she hoped that Craig would accept. Would the relationship survive?
